On December 11, 2022, the dream of the GoldenPass Express becomes reality!

August 25, 2022

A historic event! On December 11, 2022, the GoldenPass Express (GPX) will run its first commercial service from Montreux and Interlaken. On that day, the vision of the pioneers will come true. The end of a long wait and the beginning of a beautiful adventure.

It will be 9:08 a.m. on Sunday, December 11, when the GoldenPass Express will run its first commercial service from the Interlaken Ost station. 115 km away, at precisely 9:35 am, another GoldenPass Express train will make the opposite journey from Montreux. These two moments will be filled with emotions, as this event has been awaited for a long time.

The GoldenPass Express will connect three of Switzerland's tourist hotspots: Montreux, Gstaad and Interlaken. Designed by the MOB, developed and manufactured by Alstom, the variable gauge bogie will allow the train to switch from metric track (1 m) to standard track (1 m 435). This 100% Swiss technological feat will enable us to offer our customers an extraordinary experience. In 3 hours and 15 minutes, they will discover extraordinary landscapes while enjoying great comfort. With a 1st and 2nd class, but also with a Prestige class, there is something for everyone.

On board of this train built by Stadler and whose pilot car was designed by Pininfarina, customers can enjoy a catering offer based on local products. Seat service will be offered in Prestige Class and 1st Class, as well as a mini-bar service, available throughout the train.

From December 11, 2022 to June 10, 2023, the GPX will run one round trip in each direction. The pace will increase to four daily round trips on June 11, 2023. The reason for this is that tourist markets are not fully recovered due to the pandemic and the geopolitical situation.

In our land of railroads, the GoldenPass Express has a bright future. It will strengthen the position of the MOB and BLS in the category of premium panoramic trains.
